Bhubaneswar: Out of the 3,000 genome sequenced Covid-19 positive samples in Odisha, 93 per cent persons were found infected with the Delta variant, chief of Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) Bhubaneswar Ajay Kumar Parida said Thursday.
According to Parida, ILS has so far conducted genome sequencing of around 60,000-65,000 Covid-19 positive samples. A total of 96 per cent persons were found infected with the Delta variant as per the ongoing trend, Parida added.
The researchers at ILS are on job to increase the genome sequencing in order to check further mutation of the virus. It will help the researchers to study the responses of new mutants, if any.

Meanwhile, there has been no mutation of the Covid-19 virus in the last 15 days. Presently, the Covid-19 outbreak is in a static condition.
An infected person earlier used to recover within 15 days maximum during the first wave of coronavirus outbreak. The infection, however, now stays in the host human body for over three weeks after testing positive, the ILS chief further explained.
