Chennai: The Mysuru-Chennai Shatabdi Express has received Integrated Management Systems (IMS) certification for maintenance and better use of environment-friendly resources and for offering travel comfort.
The train that uses Linke Hofmann Busch rakes has already received ISO certification. The features that earned the certification includes elimination of diesel-run power car coach, biodigester toilets, maintaining 100 percent of its passenger amenities in working condition, on-board house-keeping facility with five-stage cleaning, energy conservation through LED lights and electrical fittings and preloaded Wi-Fi infotainment system.
This apart, the train has automatic sliding door closer for passenger coupe in executive coach, reflective coach indication and toilet occupancy indicator, aesthetic vinyl wrapping for coach interiors, automatic air fresheners for passenger coupes and toilets, comfortable seats with high quality upholstery, fire extinguishers, unified information sticker in all coaches with emergency contact numbers.
Southern Railway General Manager John Thomas presented the IMS certificate to Basin Bridge depot which is in charge of maintenance of the train. He inspected the train and felicitated the team of officers and staff of the depot. He presented awards and merit certifications to the officers and staff for maintaining the train service well in accordance with the standards set forth for obtaining IMS certification.
