New Century Optoelectronics sued Apple for infringement, claim 48 million damages #IndiaNEWS #Apple
Today, the new Century Optoelectronics has officially announced that it has filed a lawsuit against Apple for violation of 9 LED patents, claiming a total of 48 million yuan in damages.



The manufacturer of LED packaging, noted that its filed the patent infringement lawsuit in Taiwans Intellectual Property and Commercial Court and requested Apple cease the infringement and also pay the sum of 48 million yuan as damages.



The new Century Optoelectronics allegedly claimed in the lawsuit that the American tech giant, Apples iPad Pro series products infringed on nine (9) LED patents relating to LED flip-chip packaging, white light chip-scale packaging, Mini LED packaging, and Mini LED backlight modules.



The company, new Century Optoelectronics was founded in 2002, With 20 years of GaN semiconductor knowledge and integration capabilities, including epitaxy, flip chip, chip size packaging (CSP), small LED, micro-LED, and automotive lighting. And the recent success of GaN on sapphire power components, among other things.



Speaking about the lawsuit filed, the Chief Executive Officer of New Century Optoelectronics, Chen Cheng-Chuan, said:



For manufacturers in the market that are copying and investing a large amount of capital, if they selectively ignore intellectual property rights in order to obtain profits, they will hurt innovative companies and stifle their commitment to innovation. Of small businesses have the resources to continuously invest in innovation.



As of the time of writing this report the American tech giant, Apple has not released any official statement denying or accepting the alleged infringement. The iPhone manufacturer has many times been in news for being sued by major firms like Samsung, Epic Games, and more. This time it is the violation of 9 LED patents.
