Key changes in JEE Main 2022 #IndiaNEWS #Education Today
Hyderabad: Students appearing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2022 should be extra cautious while attempting the exam as negative marking has been introduced for all questions.
So far, negative marking is only limited to Section A comprising multiple-choice questions. This year, National Testing Agency (NTA) which is conducting the JEE Main has introduced negative marking for Section B questions where students are required to answer in numerical values. However, the aspirants got some relief in Section B as they are allowed to round off the answer to the nearest integer.
Not just for the Paper-1 for BE/BTech admissions, the NTA has notified negative marking in Section B of Paper 2A for BArch and Paper 2B for BPlanning admissions. Four marks will be awarded for each correct answer and one mark will be deducted for an incorrect answer while no marks will be deducted if the question is unanswered or marked for review.
To cater to the decision of different boards across the country regarding the reduction in the syllabus, the NTA has decided to provide choice in one section of each subject of Paper 1 and Part I of Paper 2A and 2B, the NTA said. However, the total number of questions to be attempted will remain the same (Physics -25, Chemistry – 25, and Mathematics – 25), wherever applicable, it said.
Among other changes, as per the schedule recently issued by the NTA, the JEE Main 2022 will be conducted in two sessions i. e. , April from 16 to 21 and May 24 to 29, unlike last year when the exams were held in four sessions. Candidates have to note that during registration for the first session, only session one will be visible and session two will be visible when the window opens again.
Choice of exam cities will be displayed to the candidates based on the permanent and present address filled during registration. This time, parents/guardian income details have been made mandatory and there will be no correction facility given to candidates at any stage.
The registration for the April session has begun on the website jeemain. nta. nic. in/ and the last date to apply is March 31.
The Paper 1 of the JEE Main is conducted for admissions to BE/BTech programmes at the NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/recognised by participating State governments. The Paper 2 of the JEE Main is held for admission to BArch and BPlanning courses in the country. This entrance test is also taken as an eligibility test for JEE Advanced, which is conducted for admissions to the IITs.
