E-governance: Telangana records highest e-transactions between 2014-22 #IndiaNEWS #News
Hyderabad: Registering an impressive growth in citizen centric governance, Telangana recorded the highest cumulative number of e-transactions per 1,000 population with 1. 38 lakh transactions among all the States in the country between 2014 and 2022. Further, the State has been at the third position in the country in terms of the number of e-transactions per 1,000 population consecutively in the last three years since the Covid-19 outbreak in 2019.
While Andhra Pradesh secured second position with 1. 37 lakh e-transactions per 1,000 population, Kerala is trailing behind with around 1. 31 lakh e-transactions. Gujarat is ranked fourth with just 72,935 e-transactions, even as Manipur recorded the lowest cumulative number of 5,703 e-transactions among all the States, according to the Socio Economic Outlook 2022.
The State government is focusing on improving the citizen centric governance and thus, has instituted multiple mechanisms and initiatives to make governance citizen-oriented including digital or e-transactions. The government leveraged technology through adopting e-governance across the system to improve access to services for citizens and also to ensure that services were delivered in a more timely manner, while also increasing the transparency and accountability in service delivery.
Further, the Telangana State Building Permission Approval and Self Certification System (TS-bPASS) was launched in 2020, as a single window system that processes various permissions required during the land development and building construction in the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) through a self-certification system in a timebound manner. As on February 25 this year, 90,412 applications have been received under TSbPASS, out of which 69. 1 per cent applications have been approved. The remaining have either been rejected due to non-fulfilment of mandatory requirements, or are being processed.
The State government also introduced Dharani Portal in 2020, a service sector innovation for agricultural land transactions, that offers cent per cent advance slot bookings, and instantaneous mutations and registrations. Within a span of one year, the portal completed more than eight lakhs transactions.
All such innovative measures contributed for significant growth of the e-transactions in the State. The government too has been distributed Aasara pensions, Rythu Bandhu and other benefits through Direct Benefit Transfer systems. With this, the amount is being directly credited into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, a senior official in the Finance department said.
