Groupism comes to fore in Congress in Nalgonda #IndiaNEWS #Nalgonda
Nalgonda: Deepening differences of opinion among the Congress leaders is casting a shadow on its prospects in the next elections in the erstwhile Nalgonda district. Though groupism is a commonly accepted phenomenon in the Congress, the Congress leaders from the district were working with personal grudge against their targeted leaders within the party.
Appointing Congress MP from Bhongir Lok Sabha Constituency Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has put an end to speculations making round in the political circle that he would switch over to a regional party in the state. Congress sources say, Venkat Reddy was keen on contesting from Nalgonda assembly constituency in the next elections. He got elected to the Legislative Assembly from the constituency four times ie in 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014. But faced defeat in 2018 elections in the hands of the TRS candidate Kacherla Bhupal Reddy. To give a strong signal to the party cadre on his plan to contest from Nalgonda assembly constituency in the next elections, he is going to open his camp office in Nalgonda within a week.
The letter written by the Congress leader from Suryapet district Addanki Dayakar to the party high command against the senior Congress leaders N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Ramreddy Damodar Reddy have brought the differences in the party leaders once again onto the screen. The differences between the Congress leaders seem to impact party interests in Devarakonda, Nalgonda, Suryapet and Thungathurthy assembly constituencies in the erstwhile Nalgonda district.
Damodar Reddy was supporting his follower Dr Ravi and supporting his candidature for a party ticket of Thungathurthy assembly constituency in the next elections and also working with a plan to spoil any effort of Addanki Dayakar. Dayakar faced defeat in the hands of TRS candidate Gadari Kishore Kumar in 2018 elections and alleged that Damadar Reddy had a role in his defeat. In Suryapet assembly constituency, Damodar Reddy and Patel Ramesh Reddy were maintaining groups projecting themselves as candidate of the congress in the next elections. Ramesh Reddy is known to be the staunch follower of TPCC president Revanth Reddy.
The party leader Kondeti Mallaiah, who was a follower of K Jana Reddy, was also aspiring for a Congress ticket from Nakrekal assembly constituency. But, Komatireddy brothers were encouraging another party leader Daida Ravinder, who has a support from a particular community. They were conducting the party programmes separately in the assembly constituencies for the last few months.
