Telangana: Three electrocuted while pulling temple chariot in Nalgonda #IndiaNEWS #Nalgonda
Nalgonda: Three persons died on the spot and two were injured in Kethepally of Nampally mandal in Nalgonda district due to an electric shock after an iron chariot of a temple, which they were pulling came into contact with a live electric wire. The dead were Rajaboina Yadaiah(35), Pogagu Mohanaiah (40) from Kethepally and Dasari Anjaneyulu(30) from Mukkampally of Gurrampode mandal in the district.
The temple rathostavam with a newly acquired iron chariot, was organised in the village from the temple on the day of Sri Ramanavami on April 10, and the chariot was left underneath a neem tree near the temple after the procession. Due to rain in the village, the temple priests decided to shift the chariot to the near the temple, which was located half a kilometer away from the village. They sought help of village elder Dayanada Reddy for moving the chariot into the shed.
On the request of Dayananda Reddy, nearly ten villagers offered to help move the chariot to the shed and when they were pulling, it came in contact with the 11 KV electric line. Three of the villagers died on the spot and five received injuries due to electric shock. Rajaboina Venkanna (40) was also received serious injuries and has been shifted to government general hospital for better treatment. His condition was said to be serious. The remaining injured have been shifted to area hospital of Devarakonda for treatment.
An eye witness R Narasimha told Telangana Today that the people who wore footwear escaped from the accident with minor injuries. The three electrocuted were pulling or pushing the chariot with their bare hands and the electrocution took place barely two meters from the shed. Devarakonda MLA Ravinda Kumar Naik visited Kethepally and consoled the family members of the victims. He promised to get them help from the Government.
