Jadavpur University Refuses UGC Proposal of Cow Science Examination #IndiaNEWSAll #Science /Tech
Jadavpur University has refused the proposal of the University Grants Commission (UGC) on the Cow Science examination, a national examination to assess the knowledge of gau Vigyan (cow science). The UGC has written to the Vice-Chancellors of 900 universities around the country to urge students to enrol in the Cow Science exam.
The Cow Science Exam, also known as the Kamdhenu Gau Vigyan Prachar-Prasar Examination, has now been postponed. It was set for February 25, 2021, earlier. No detail on the new date has yet been known.

According to the Facebook page of the University of Jadavpur: The University has always maintained a scientific and secular method of education since its inception. Holding this examination would be a compromise for the eternal philosophy. The post also adds that with COVID 19 leading most universities to suffer from a shortage of resources, teachers believe that studies should have been done in government-funded science disciplines. Instead, the current exam is trying to push forward a particular non-scientific philosophy on the current generation of students, says the Facebook post.
Jadavpur University authorities added portions of the Rashtriya Kamdhenu Aayog (organizing body) study material for the test, which claimed that
people who had cow dung put on their walls remained unaffected by the Bhopal Gas tragedy. It also states that a certain location where cows have been killed continuously for a number of years is more vulnerable to earthquakes.

The University of Jadavpur has appealed to other colleges and the UGC to rethink the non-scientific direction this examination will give to the countrys education system.
