Progressive International Urges Joe Biden to end US Sanctions #IndiaNEWSAll #International
Progressive International an international coalition for uniting and mobilizing progressive left-wing activists and organizations called on President Joe Biden to cease unilateral and illegal US sanctions.
Progressive International(PI) is a coalition of left-leaning intellectuals, activists, and political leaders from around the world with an interim council of which includes Noam Chomsky, Aruna Roy, Arundhati Roy, Harsh Mandar, Jean Drez, Sarika Sinha among others. The organization is aiming for a post-capitalist society.
PI released a statement after Joseph Biden took oath as US president. The statement is as follows-
U. S. -backed economic sanctions impact nearly one-third of humanity in some thirty countries, causing untold death and devastation by denying them access to global markets restricting the ability to generate wealth, stabilize currency, and provide basic human essentials for their people.
We thought that in the context of the global pandemic these sanctions would be weakened; instead, the U. S. has tightened its sanctions against Iran and Venezuela, hitting these countries had with a full spectrum attack on their medical institutions and their welfare institutions.
