OU tennis team clinches gold in All India inter-university lawn tennis championship #IndiaNEWS #News
Hyderabad: Osmania University, under the captaincy of G Sai Karteek Reddy, clinched the gold medal defeating Gujarat University 3-2 in the final of All India inter-university lawn tennis championship at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneshwar, on Wednesday.
In the first singles, Sai Karteek Reddy beat Mohit Bondre 6-0, 6-2 to put his side in the lead. However, in second singles Suhith Reddy lost to Rudra Bhatt 6-4, 4-6, 4-6. The doubles team of Akash Reddy and G Sai Karteek Reddy also lost to Mohit Bondre and Rudra Bhatt 2-6, 4-6 to concede 1-2 lead to Gujarat University.
Later in the first reverse singles, Sai Karteek Reddy downed Rudra Bhatt 6-7, 6-1, 6-1 to level scores. L Suhith Reddy then crushed Mohit 6-2, 6-4 in the second reverse singles to guide OU to victory.
Results: OU bt Gujarat University 3-2 (Sai Karteek Reddy bt Mohit Bondre 6-0, 6-2; Suhith Reddy lost to Rudra Bhatt 6-4, 4-6, 4-6; Akash Reddy/G Sai Karteek Reddy lost to Mohit Bondre/Rudra Bhatt 2-6, 4-6; Sai Karteek Reddy bt Rudra Bhatt 6-7, 6-1, 6-1; L Suhith Reddy bt Mohit 6-2, 6-4.
