Telangana: School fee hike no more than 10 per cent #IndiaNEWS #News
Hyderabad: The school level fee committee will be competent for regulation of fee structure in the private unaided schools in the State.
The cabinet sub-committee which was constituted on issues of fees in schools has recommended that the fee hike should not be more than 10 per cent of the fee levied in the previous year.
As per minutes of the recent meeting of the Cabinet sub-committee, which comprise Education Minister, P.Sabitha Indra Reddy, MA&UD Minister, KT Rama Rao and Finance Minister, T.Harish Rao among others, the school level fee committee should consist of a representative of the management as chairperson and school principal as the secretary. It will also have three teachers and five parents from parents-teachers association as members.
If the school level fee committee fails to decide fee structure, the management should refer the matter to the State Level Fee Regulatory Committee which will be headed by a retired High Court judge to be nominated by the government. It will also have the Director of School Education and a person of repute in the field of education to be nominated by the government as members.
The school managements have to submit audited accounts and proposed fee structure detailing the components and basis for proposed fee structure at least three months prior to the commencement of the next academic year for approval.
English medium in government schools
The group of ministers decided to introduce English medium initially from Classes I to VIII for the academic 2022-23 and increase one class every year to cover all classes up to Class X by 2024-25 in the government schools.
However, the government schools were asked to take the option of parents on the medium of their choice at the beginning of the academic year.
The Cabinet sub-committee recommended printing of bilingual textbooks for all students for the academic years 2022-23 and 2023-24 except for Class I students who will have books in English only. It was decided to take up rationalization of teacher posts at the earliest and conduct the Teacher Eligibility Test besides resuming bio-metric attendance for teachers.
During the meeting, the officials were directed to finalize the modalities for introduction of a one-year English medium preparatory class preceding Class I.
